Celebrating Summer in Ontario

On Friday, June 6th, Cycle Simcoe joined Resorts Ontario to celebrate summer in our area. Some of Ontario’s largest tourist attractions were in attendance on Dundas Square in Toronto – from CN Tower tours to Ontario Culinary and even an Elvis Presley impersonator promoting Collingwood’s Elvis Festival.

The goal of the day was to showcase what Ontario has to offer for outdoor adventure and let people know that they do not have to travel far to experience something new and fun.

Cycle Simcoe was set up with Resorts Ontario promoting cycle tourism, not just within Simcoe County, but across Ontario. What a lot of people don’t know is that you can actually take your bike from Toronto to Barrie on the GO Train on weekends. Talk about convenience! Plus, with our new cycling route map, touring can be easily accomplished in self guided day trips.

The 30 Second Challenge

We had lots of fun running our event – fastest 30 second sprints on stationary trainers. Congratulations to Jeff for winning the Barrie/Simcoe Cycling Club jersey, signed by World ranked Canadian mountain biker, Peter Disera. And also to Rebecca and Daniel for winning the jerseys donated by the Trek Bicycle Store in Toronto. Their times were 0.4 km in 30 seconds – smoking fast times!

Thanks again to our sponsors, Trek Bicycle Store in Toronto and the Barrie/Simcoe Cycling Club. We hope to see everyone riding in Simcoe County soon!
