Register for the Northern Ontario Cyclocross Series
Fall in Ontario tends to be the end of most cyclists riding season – it’s cold, wet, and down right miserable. Good news is, that’s where the sport of cyclocross shines!
Cyclocross, now North America’s fastest growing cycling discipline, is the perfect solution for road cyclists and mountain bikers that are not ready to put the bikes on the basement trainers. A ‘cross’ between the road and mountain bike disciplines, cyclocross races feature; mud bogs, sand pits, stair climbs and other obstacles to keep you on and off the bike throughout the course of an hour. It sounds aweful, I know, but after a long season of riding it’s the perfect solution for keeping you challenged and excited about your bike.
Simcoe County, is on the forefront of this booming sport. This year three Provincial Cyclocross races will be held in Simcoe County:
- Hardwood Cross, located at Hardwood Ski and Bike on October 8th
- Baseball Cross, held at the Barrie Sports Complex on October 15th
- Silver Goose, 2-day, Internationally sanctioned UCI C2 event in Midland on October 22nd
New to the concept of cyclocross but interested in giving it a try? All three events will be offering an intro to cyclocross race, so riders can give it a shot and see what all the fuss is about.
