This expansion project, championed by the Barrie/Simcoe Cycling Club, will be in partnership with Tourism Simcoe County and the municipalities within the three regions. Our goal is simple – improve cycling tourism within Simcoe County and create a consistent and memorable experience for those from the area and those visiting the area.

Since the successful launch of our Oro-Medonte pilot project, Cycle Simcoe has developed a cycling strategy which will now be rolled out County wide, through a phased approach. Some components of this strategy include:

  • A Cycling Route Map – both multi-use trail and road.
  • Cycling specific directional signage, as well as Share the Road signage along designated routes.
  • Continuous marketing and promotion, regionally and provincially.
  • And most importantly, partnering with local businesses to develop cycling packages and promote Simcoe County as a premiere “cycling friendly” destination.

This year we will be introducing an interactive cycling route map, both online and through a BETA App. So those savvy web users can leave the printed map at home and have every route on their mobile device.

The Cycle Simcoe project is evolving more and more every day. If you are interested in following the progress be sure to join our newsletter – visit cyclesimcoe.ca to join.
